Tom and I have debated changing our eating habits for a while. It’s not that we don’t eat healthy…lots of veggies, some fruit, 100% whole grain or wheat, but we’re not always consistent.
At the beginning of February we joined CrossFit Dahlonega, and I have been seeing amazing results. I’ve lost almost 4″around my waist and 8 lbs in one month. I’ve been logging my progress here.
The people at CrossFit recommend the Zone Diet. I’ve done a lot of reasearch and it’s the only diet that seems to make sense, scientifically and in my mind. It’s roughly based on the idea that we haven’t evolved enough as humans to eat the nasty crap in the middle of the grocery store. We should stick to meats, veggies, fruits, nuts, etc… I think it’s considered a Paleolithic diet, or…an if the cavemen could eat it so can you, diet. That actually makes sense in my mind, and I would love to raise Rylee in such an environment. Plus, it’s working for people we know. This is a guy that Tom works with, who turned us on to CrossFit. He’s been doing the Zone for three weeks:
I’ve been zoning for almost 3 weeks my fran time has gone from 7+ to 4:45 in about a month. every time I walk into the gym now I’m posting a new PR.
The only problem for our household is limited starch and no sugar… Rylee lives on Fruit Loops, Chocolate Silk, Chicken, potatoes, and cheese…occasionally bananas, apples, and blueberries. Something happened along the way where she completely stopped trusting my judgment in food so I’m worried that when we switch, she’s going to starve. I know she won’t, but it’s a concern.
We’re making the switch to full Zone in April. We’re going to do it for two weeks straight, and then allow ourselves a break once a week. Hopefully, we don’t want to though.
Anyway. Just thought I’d share my progression of thinking…and see if anyone has any suggestions on getting Rylee to switch over to the healthier lifestyle with us.
For those of you who could care less: I’ve included a picture of Rylee:
